It is a benchmark for birdwatching in Colombia. Since 1998, Doña Dora has turned her home into a natural sanctuary, offering visitors the opportunity to observe between 30 and 60 bird species in a single day, making it ideal for both novice and experienced bird enthusiasts.

Among the featured species is the emblematic Barbet Toucan (Semnornis ramphastinus), a species endemic to Chocó, recognized for its seven-colored plumage and distinctive song. The site also features a 700-meter trail that leads to an Andean Cock-of-the-Rock lek, where males perform courtship displays.



With over 500 bird species recorded in the Anchicayá area, including several endemics and threatened species, Doña Dora stands as a testament to grassroots conservation efforts in Colombia.
